Xacapandaré

This variety of Rapé combines Mapacho with Xacapandaré, a native herb exclusive to the Amazon jungle, little known and difficult to obtain, following rituals passed down from generation to generation since ancient times.

According to the Huni Kuin, this variety facilitates spiritual connection, opening doors to hidden dimensions of consciousness. In the Huni Kuin tradition, Rapé Xacapandaré is a tangible expression of respect for nature and a manifestation of the cultural wealth of the tribe.

History of the Huni Kuin tribe

The arrival of colonizers in the colonial period marked the beginning of challenges for the Huni Kuin; The imposition of new social structures and the exploitation of natural resources altered the ancestral balance of the tribe. Despite these challenges, the Huni Kuin’s resilience was manifested in the preservation of their cultural and spiritual practices.

In more recent times, economic exploitation of the Amazon rainforest also posed significant threats to the Huni Kuin. Deforestation and the search for natural resources directly impacted their traditional territories, triggering a constant confrontation between the tribe and those who saw the jungle as a source of economic gain.

One of the most significant challenges for the Huni Kuin was the threat of the loss of their language and ancestral knowledge.

The advance of modernity and external influences introduced significant changes in the lives of the Huni Kuin: Globalization and connectivity altered social dynamics, presenting challenges in the intergenerational transmission of knowledge and cultural practices, areas where the tribe has demonstrated a unique capacity to adapt, while preserving its identity.
