Rapé Cumaru

Huni Kuin Cumaru Rapé is an expression of the rich heritage of the Huni Kuin tribe of the Amazon rainforest. Coming from the Acre region in Brazil,

Huni Kuin Cumaru Rapé is prepared from the ashes of the Cumaru tree, known by the Huni Kuin as: “The tree that does not rot because it is very true”, and from it the highest quality ashes are obtained. Cumaru is one of the hardest woods in the forest, it is even called “Cumaru Ferro” for its great resistance and weight.

Cumaru Rapé is an excellent medicine for concentration, focus and spiritual cleansing and protection, strengthening the mind like Cumaru wood itself, iron wood.

The main ingredient Mapacho is combined with Cumaru ash, a treasure with deep meaning as a cultural symbol and source of spiritual connection, deeply rooted in the traditional practices of the Huni Kuin. For the Huni Kuin, Cumaru is a spiritual link to the spirits of the jungle and a reminder of the sacred interconnection between nature and human life. It is used in ceremonies and rituals, and is a symbol of communication with the inhabitants and the spiritual elements of the jungle.

The Cumaru tree, (Dipteryx odorata), is appreciated for its resistant and durable wood, widely used for the construction of homes and tools, but its anthropological relevance is accentuated by the seeds contained in its pods. The seeds, also called “tonka beans”, are exceptional for their distinctive aroma and unique aromatic properties.

Huni Kuin Tribe: Guardians of the Jungle and Custodians of Ancestral Wisdom.

The Huni Kuin tribe, also known as Kaxinawá, spans across the regions of Brazil and Peru, and their cultural identity is intrinsically intertwined with the plant masters and nature that surrounds them.

The worldview of the Huni Kuin is characterized by a deep connection with nature, where each element, from ancient trees to the smallest plants, is perceived as a living being with its own spiritual essence.

For the tribe, the Amazon rainforest is not just an environment; It is a sacred home that nourishes and sustains your lives. The relationship with nature is not only practical, but also spiritual, and is expressed through rituals, ceremonies and daily practices.

The Huni Kuin are considered guardians of ancestral botanical knowledge. They have developed a deep understanding of the medicinal, spiritual and practical properties of the plants that inhabit their environment. This knowledge is passed down from generation to generation, cementing the tribe’s position as custodians of natural wisdom. For them, plants are not only resources, but spiritual allies that guide daily life and their sacred ceremonies.
